Abstract
Breastfeeding mothers are a nutritionally vulnerable group who require special attention because their energy and macronutrient needs increase during the breastfeeding period. Inadequate intake of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats can affect the quality and quantity of breast milk, which may impact both maternal health and infant growth. Data from Karangmulya Community Health Center, Garut Regency, showed that some breastfeeding mothers still had poor nutritional status and the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding had not yet reached the national target. This condition indicates the need for educational media that is practical and easy to understand. This study aimed to design a prototype pocket book as an educational medium regarding macronutrient intake for breastfeeding mothers. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. However, this study was limited to the develop stage. Validation was carried out by three experts consisting of material, media, and language experts. A small-scale trial was conducted on 12 breastfeeding mothers in Sucikaler Village. The validation results showed that the material expert obtained 89.3%, the media expert 89.6%, and the language expert 97.1%, all categorized as highly feasible. The respondent trial showed an average percentage of 81.04% with a very good category. Therefore, the pocket book was considered feasible to be used as an educational media for breastfeeding mothers.
