Abstract
The postoperative period is a phase of recovery from pain resulting from surgical wounds. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that in 2022, approximately 234 million patients underwent surgical procedures worldwide. In Indonesia, the percentage of general surgical procedures reached 22.8%. Meanwhile, the Cirebon Health Office reported a mortality rate of 28.3% in 2020, with surgical data in Cirebon City showing approximately 4,450 cases. Acute postoperative pain can hinder recovery; therefore, pain management is crucial. Postoperative care can involve both pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One non-pharmacological approach is Mozart classical music therapy, which has been proven effective in significantly reducing pain levels and blood pressure. This study aims to describe the implementation of Mozart music therapy for acute pain in postoperative patients at Arjawinangun Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Cirebon Regency. A case study method was employed, focusing on the implementation of the intervention, patient response, and analysis. The intervention was conducted over five days, with one 30-minute session held each morning. Pain levels were measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The results showed that patients receiving the Mozart classical music therapy intervention experienced a gradual reduction in pain levels, resulting in a significant decrease in pain over the five-day period. In conclusion, Mozart classical music therapy is proven to reduce pain levels in postoperative patients suffering from acute pain. This intervention is simple, cost-effective, and free of side effects, making it suitable for implementation as a standard of care.
