Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with a growing prevalence. According to data from the International Diabetes Federation (2021), more than 537 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes, with 19.47 million people in Indonesia suffering from the disease, the highest number in the world. In Tasikmalaya, there were approximately 6,880 cases of diabetes mellitus in 2024. Despite this, many patients still do not understand how to properly manage their disease, which increases the risk of complications. The purpose of this study was to understand the knowledge of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients regarding type 2 diabetes management at the Az Zahra Medika Clinic in Tasikmalaya City. This study focused on patient understanding of the four pillars of diabetes mellitus management: diet, exercise, pharmacological therapy, and blood sugar monitoring. This study used a quantitative approach with cross-sectional data collection. The study subjects were type 2 diabetes mellitus patients from June to December 2025, with data collection and analysis conducted from December 2025 to March 2026. Data were obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using statistical software, specifically SPSS. The results showed that the knowledge level of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients regarding type 2 diabetes management at the Az Zahra Medika Clinic in Tasikmalaya City was mostly in the poor category (55 respondents (77.4%), while 9 respondents (12.7%) were in the adequate category and 7 respondents (9.9%) were in the good category. Based on the study findings, it can be concluded that most patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Az Zahra Medika Clinic, Tasikmalaya City, have inadequate knowledge regarding the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
