Abstract
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic health issue with an increasing prevalence globally and locally at Purbaratu Public Health Center. Despite the importance of a low glycemic index diet in disease management, education at primary health centers is often delivered conventionally, making it less engaging for patients. A preliminary study indicated that T2DM patients prefer short animated video education that utilizes local language and daily-life storytelling. This study aims to design a story-based animated video prototype for low glycemic index diet education among T2DM patients at Purbaratu Public Health Center. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) following the 4D development model (, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to the Develop stage. Research instruments included validation questionnaires for material, media, and language experts, as well as response questionnaires for 12 T2DM patients as users. The results showed that the developed animated video was categorized as "Very Valid" and feasible for use based on assessments from material experts (82%), media experts (84%), and language experts (93%). . User testing also received very positive responses, where the media was considered engaging and easy to understand, indicating its potential effectiveness in improving dietary understanding among T2DM patients. Keywords : Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Glycemic Index, Animated Video, Educational Media, 4D Model.
