Abstract
Bckground : Childbirth is the process of the cervix opening and the fetus descending toward the birth canal. The number of mothers giving birth in the Bungursari District area was 511 people from January to July 2025. Childbirth will cause pain, as labor pain is a physiological symptom and unpleasant for some mothers. One of the interventions provided is using ginger oil combined with lemongrass topically. Objective: to analyze the effect of ginger and lemongrass oil on the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of active phase at TPMB in the Bungursari District area of Tasikmalaya City. Method: type of research is pretest-posttest with control group. The number of respondents was 66, divided into 2 groups, namely the intervention group of 33 people given ginger and lemongrass oil and the control group of 33 people given standard care. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. Data analysis used, because the unpaired data were not normally distributed, involved the Mann-Whitney test. Results: the intensity of labor pain in the first stage before being given ginger and lemongrass oil had a score of 8 (33.3%), and after being given ginger and lemongrass oil had a score of 3 (45.5%). There was a difference in the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of the active phase before and after being given ginger and lemongrass oil (p=0.000), and there was a difference in the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of the active phase in the control group before and after being given standard care (p=0.000). Conclusion: there is an effect of ginger and lemongrass oil on the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of the active phase at TPMB, Bungursari District, Tasikmalaya City.
