Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the non-communicable diseases whose prevalence continues to increase, marked by increased blood glucose. Signs of diabetes mellitus are hyperglycemia and disorders of carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism associated with absolute or relative insulin secretion deficiency. One of the management of diabetes mellitus is with a balanced diet. Balanced consumption of nutrients and implementing healthy eating habits are one of the main principles of diet therapy to prevent DM, manage the condition of DM sufferers and prevent complications. This study aims to determine the Description of Micronutrient Intake (Zinc, Magnesium and Vitamin C) and Eating Habits in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients at the Indihiang Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. This study is a descriptive analytical study. The sampling method used is the consecutive sampling technique. Respondents who participated in this study were 95 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Data collection on respondent characteristics used an identity questionnaire. The instruments used in this study were SQ-FFQ and Modified UKDDQ. The results of the study showed that most respondents' zinc intake in men (100%), in women (87%), magnesium intake in men (100%), in women (95%), vitamin C intake in men (82%), in women (60%) were included in the category of less with healthy eating habits (87.37%). These results indicate a mismatch between micronutrient intake and eating habits in patients, so it is necessary to hold a nutrition program to support the management of diabetes mellitus.
