Abstract

In adolescence, body image awareness becomes stronger. Situations where a person goes through a period of physical change and psychological growth, causing adolescents to pay more attention to body shape and care about body satisfaction. Physical activity of adolescents tends to be lower in recent times. The purpose of this study was to describe the body image and physical activity level in adolescents with overnutrition status at SMAN 1 Singaparna in Tasikmalaya Regency. The type of research used is descriptive analytic. The results showed that 12 adolescents (34.3%) had body image with marked concern with shape category, 10 adolescents (28.6%) with no concern with shape category, 9 adolescents (25.7%) with moderate concern with shape category, and 4 other adolescents (11.4%) with mild concern with shape category. Physical activity in adolescents with overweight status as many as 16 adolescents (45.7%) have a low level of physical activity, 13 adolescents (37.1%) have a moderate level of physical activity, and 6 adolescents (17.1%) have a high level of physical activity. The conclusion of this study is that the respondents perceived that their body were too big for their own body size. They feel anxious that when they sit, they will take up too much space, and feel unfair compared to others who have slimmer bodies. A low level of physical activity in respondents is caused by the habit of lying down and sitting a lot, as well as the habit of using motorcycles and cars when moving short distances.
