Abstract

The human respiratory system is a process by which air flows in and out. One of the respiratory system emergencies is asthma. In someone who has difficulty breathing can be overcome by providing inhalation therapy. The use of inhalation fluids in patients with respiratory emergencies (asthma) will differ in their treatment depending on the type and degree of severity of each patient. The purpose of this study was to describe the use of inhalation fluids in patients with respiratory emergencies (asthma) at Singaparna Medika Citrautama Hospital (SMC) Tasikmalaya in 2022.. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a retrospective research design. Sampling used a purposive sampling method and the research instrument was the data collection sheet. The data collected in this study were gender, age, drug class, active substance, and dosage. Research data were analyzed and presented in percentage form. The results of the study from 105 samples showed that the sex of the most common asthma sufferers was female 53%, the most common age of patients was 17-25 years old 23%, the most common classification of asthma was acute asthma 70%. The class of drugs that are often used alone are bronchodilators derived from β2 agonists as much as 29% while for combinations of β2 agonists with 65% corticosteroids, the active substance that is mostly used alone is procaterol HCl 15% and the combination is between procaterol HCl and budesonide as much as 60%. Procaterol HCl is used effectively because it works by widening the respiratory tract. The use of a combination of procaterol HCl with Budesonide is considered as an alternative because it can improve symptoms, reduce night asthma, improve lung function, and reduce symptoms of asthma attacks.
