Abstract
ABSTRACT Oral health is an important aspect that is often overlooked during pregnancy, even though hormonal changes can affect oral health. Knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women towards oral health maintenance are very important to prevent health problems that can affect the mother and foetus. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to evaluate the level of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding oral health maintenance, especially at the Posyandu Silebu Village, Pancalang District, Kuningan Regency. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge and attitudes about oral health maintenance among pregnant women at Posyandu Silebu Village. This study is expected to provide useful information for related parties in designing more effective intervention programmes to increase awareness and knowledge of pregnant women regarding oral health. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative with data collection through questionnaires distributed to 35 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria. The questionnaire was designed to measure the knowledge and attitudes of respondents regarding oral health maintenance. Determination of research subjects was carried out by total sampling technique, where the entire population that met the criteria was sampled. The results showed that the majority of pregnant women's knowledge about oral health maintenance was in the poor category, with a percentage reaching 40%. Meanwhile, the attitude of pregnant women towards oral health maintenance is mostly in the moderate category, with a percentage reaching 60%. These findings indicate that many pregnant women lack understanding of the importance of maintaining oral health during pregnancy, although they show sufficient awareness. The conclusion of this study is the need for increased health promotion and education on the importance of maintaining oral health during pregnancy. More effective educational programmes should be designed to increase the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women, so that they can take appropriate steps in maintaining their oral health. It is hoped that the results of this study can be a reference for relevant parties in designing better intervention programmes to improve the oral health of pregnant women and its impact on fetal health.
