Abstract

Background: Bronchopneumonia is an inflammatory disease of the respiratory system that attacks one or more lobes of the lungs, characterized by the appearance of infiltrate patches . Bronchopneumonia can cause increased secretion production which then causes various clinical manifestations, resulting in ineffective airway clearance problems. In bronchopneumonia, nursing problems are found in effective airway clearance and to overcome this, pharmacological and non- pharmacological follow-up treatment is needed, including chest physiotherapy and peppermint aromatherapy. Objective: To find out how sputum removal is ineffective in airway clearance in toddlers with bronchopneumonia. Method: Case study was conducted with nursing care for 2 toddlers who experienced problems with airway clearance 3 times during 3 days of implementing the combination of Peppermint Aromatherapy and Chest Physiotherapy. Results: There was sputum discharge in An A and An D who experienced ineffective airway clearance problems with Bronchopneumonia. Conclusion: There was a gap in sputum discharge in An A and An D after being given a combination of Peppermint Aromatherapy and Chest Physiotherapy. Sputum discharge in An D was more than An A.
