Abstract
Case Study of Carbohydrate and Protein Adequacy in the Dietary Management of Inpatients with Atherosclerotic Heart Disease at Permata Hospital, Cirebon Noer Aureliste Indigo1, Alina Hizni2 ABSTRACK Atherosclerosis is a pathological condition characterized by the buildup of cholesterol plaque on artery walls, causing narrowing of the blood vessels and impaired cardiovascular function. This condition can impact patient nutritional status, resulting in shortness of breath, nausea, and decreased appetite. According to 2023 World Health Organization (WHO) data, heart disease causes approximately 17.9 million deaths annually. Permata Hospital medical records show that atherosclerotic heart disease ranks third among the 10 most common diseases in hospitalizations, with 56 patients in October 2025. This study aims to describe the characteristics of respondents and the dietary management process for atherosclerotic heart disease patients, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, nutritional monitoring, and evaluation, as well as analyze the development of carbohydrate and protein intake in hospitalized patients. This descriptive, observational study used a case study approach with two respondents selected using purposive sampling. The results showed an increase in protein and carbohydrate intake in both respondents during the intervention period. Protein intake in both respondents increased until the third day of the intervention. Meanwhile, carbohydrate intake in the first respondent increased daily but remained in the "insufficient" category, while in the second respondent, it increased to the "good" category. This increase in intake coincided with improvements in the patient's clinical condition, reduced shortness of breath and nausea, increased appetite, and modifications to food intake according to patient tolerance. Studi Kasus Pemenuhan Karbohidrat dan Protein pada Penatalaksanaan Diet Jantung Aterosklerosis Rawat Inap di Rumah Sakit Permata Cirebon Noer Aureliste Indigo1, Alina Hizni2 ABSTRAK Aterosklerosis merupakan kondisi patologis yang ditandai dengan penumpukan plak kolesterol pada dinding arteri sehingga menyebabkan penyempitan pembuluh darah dan gangguan fungsi kardiovaskular. Kondisi ini dapat memengaruhi status gizi pasien akibat munculnya keluhan sesak nafas, mual, dan penurunan nafsu makan. Berdasarkan data World Health Organization (WHO) tahun 2023, penyakit jantung menyebabkan sekitar 17,9 juta kematian setiap tahunnya. Data rekam medis Rumah Sakit Permata menunjukkan bahwa penyakit jantung aterosklerosis menempati urutan ketiga dari 10 penyakit terbanyak kategori rawat inap dengan jumlah 56 pasien pada bulan Oktober 2025. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik responden, proses penatalaksanaan diet pasien jantung aterosklerosis meliputi pengkajian, diagnosis, intervensi, monitoring dan evaluasi gizi, serta menganalisis perkembangan asupan karbohidrat dan protein pasien rawat inap. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif observasional dengan pendekatan studi kasus pada 2 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan asupan protein dan karbohidrat pada kedua responden selama masa intervensi. Asupan protein pada kedua responden meningkat hingga hari ketiga intervensi. Sementara itu, asupan karbohidrat pada responden pertama mengalami peningkatan setiap hari namun masih tergolong kategori asupan kurang, sedangkan pada responden kedua mengalami peningkatan hingga mencapai kategori asupan baik. Peningkatan asupan terjadi seiring dengan membaiknya kondisi klinis pasien, berkurangnya keluhan sesak dan mual, meningkatnya nafsu makan, serta adanya modifikasi bentuk makanan sesuai toleransi pasien.
