Abstract
Latar Belakang: Tuberkulosis (TB) Paru merupakan penyakit infeksi saluran pernapasan yang sering menyebabkan bersihan jalan napas tidak efektif akibat penumpukan sekret. Inhalasi aromaterapi peppermint yang mengandung mentol dapat membantu melegakan jalan napas dan mengencerkan sputum. Tujuan:Mengetahui pengaruh implementasi inhalasi aromaterapi peppermint terhadap perbaikan bersihan jalan napas pada pasien TB Paru. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan metode studi kasus deskriptif pada dua pasien TB Paru di RSUD Arjawinangun. Intervensi dilakukan selama 5 hari, setiap pagi selama 10 menit menggunakan diffuser dengan campuran 2–3 tetes minyak peppermint dan 100 ml air hangat, disertai teknik napas dalam. Hasil: Setelah dilakukan intervensi, kedua responden mengalami peningkatan bersihan jalan napas, ditandai dengan berkurangnya sesak napas dan suara ronkhi. Responden 2 menunjukkan perbaikan lebih cepat dibandingkan responden 1 karena lebih patuh melakukan teknik napas dalam.Kesimpulan: Inhalasi aromaterapi peppermint efektif membantu mengencerkan sekret dan memperbaiki pola napas pada pasien TB Paru sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai terapi pendamping farmakologi dalam asuhan keperawatan. Background: Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is a respiratory tract infection that often causes ineffective airway clearance due to accumulation of secretions. Inhalation of peppermint aromatherapy containing menthol can help relieve the airway and thin the sputum. Objective: To determine the effect of implementing peppermint aromatherapy inhalation on improving airway clearance in Pulmonary TB patients. Method: The study used a descriptive case study method on two Pulmonary TB patients at Arjawinangun Regional Hospital. The intervention was carried out for 5 days, every morning for 10 minutes using a diffuser with a mixture of 2–3 drops of peppermint oil and 100 ml of warm water, accompanied by deep breathing techniques. Results: After the intervention, both respondents experienced an increase in airway clearance, marked by reduced shortness of breath and rhonchi sounds. Respondent 2 showed faster improvement than respondent 1 because he was more obedient in doing deep breathing techniques. Conclusion: Peppermint aromatherapy inhalation is effective in helping to thin secretions and improve breathing patterns in pulmonary TB patients so that it can be used as a pharmacological companion therapy in nursing care.
