Abstract
Hypertension is a chronic disease that can act as both a cause and a complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD). In Indonesia, the prevalence of CKD in individuals aged >15 years is 0.38%. In patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy, the use of antihypertensive drugs requires special attention due to pharmacokinetic changes caused by decreased kidney function. This study aimed to determine the description of antihypertensive drug use in hemodialysis patients at RSUD KHZ. Musthafa Tasikmalaya Regency in 2025. This study used a descriptive method with retrospective data collection from patients’ medical records in December 2025 and March 2026. The sample consisted of 145 patients with a total of 406 antihypertensive drug uses. The analysis included patient characteristics (age and gender) and drug utilization, including drug class, drug name, dosage, dosage form, and administration schedule. The results showed that male patients were slightly higher (50.3%) than female patients (49.7%), with the highest age group being 41–50 years (41.4%). The most commonly used drug class was diuretics (34.2%), with furosemide being the most frequently used drug (34.5%). The most commonly used dosage was furosemide 40 mg (34.5%). The dominant dosage form was tablets (99.8%), and the most common administration schedule was furosemide once daily in the morning (20.4%). In conclusion, the use of antihypertensive drugs in hemodialysis patients is dominated by diuretics, particularly furosemide, which is used to control blood pressure and fluid overload. Keywords: antihypertensive, hemodialysis, furosemide, chronic kidney disease, drug utilization
