Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease with an increasing global prevalence, particularly Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, which occurs due to impaired insulin use or production. Proper dietary patterns and adequate knowledge about diabetes diets play a crucial role in controlling blood glucose levels. A good understanding helps patients maintain a balanced diet to keep their blood sugar levels stabel. This study aims to describe energy intake, macronutrient intake, and the level of diet-related diabetes knowledge among Type 2 DM patients at Purbaratu Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. The study employed a descriptive-analytical design with purpossive cluster sampling, involving 85 respondents, using the food recall 2x24 jam instrument and a modified knowledge instrument based on the DKQ-24 and DRNK-Q. The results showed that most respondents had a low level of knowledge (80%). Meanwhile, macronutrient intake indicated that most respondents had adequate energy intake (52.9%), low protein intake (50.5%), high fat intake (49.4%), and low carbohydrate intake (54.1%). These findings indicate a discrepancy between knowledge level and dietary practices among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Therefore, more effective and continuous nutritional education is needed to support optimal disease management. Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Nutrient Intake, Knowledge
