Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: About 56.3% of dental and oral health workers are at high risk of cross-infection, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Clinical students are part of health workers who are carrying out a period of education and practicum at the dental clinic. Cross infection control is very important to do as a preventive effort in services during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the use of PPE, especially level 3 PPE. Factors that affect compliance with the use of PPE are knowledge and attitudes as well as predisposing factors that can ensure safety in dental and oral health care services. Objective : To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the use of personal protective equipment as cross-infection control in clinical students level 2 of the D-III Dental Health Study Program during the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: Using research correlation analysis with a cross sectional approach. Sampling technique with total sampling, obtained by the total sampling of 38 people. The samples to be given a knowledge and attitude questionnaire sheet as well as a checklist observation by the researcher. Data analysis using SPSS. Results: The results of the chi-square statistical test shows that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the use of PPE (p=0,000<0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the use of personal protective equipment as cross- infection control in clinical students level 2 of the D-III Dental Health Study Program during the Covid-19 pandemic.
