Abstract
Children are one of the groups that are vulnerable to nutritional problems. The prevalence of undernutrition in Indonesia in the age range of 5-12 years is 9.2% and the prevalence of overnutrition is 20%. The direct causes of nutritional problems are the lack of nutritional intake both in quantity and quality and the incidence of infectious diseases. Children in orphanages are vulnerable to nutritional problems because the adequacy of food intake is influenced by the organization of food managed by the orphanage. The purpose of the study was to determine the food service and the nutritional status of children at the Taman Harapan Foundation Orphanage in Tasikmalaya City. This type of research is descriptive, the sample in this study is the manager of food organization totaling 1 person and children living in orphanages totaling 30 children aged 5-18 years using non-random sampling method with saturated sampling criteria. The form of food service that is applied is the self-management system. Input, menu planning has not been carried out. Process does not have fixed procedures such as the unavailability of menu guidelines, menu cycles and rules in assessing processed products, food distribution using a centralized. Children's acceptance of the most accepted food menu based on the categories of taste, appearance, texture and aroma, namely animal side dishes. The food service system of the nursing home does not meet the standards of the Pedoman Gizi Rumah Sakit (PGRS) and Kemenkes RI (2013). Hygiene and sanitation are not yet good hygiene and sanitation with a value of 57, the value that must be obtained for a class B catering institution is at least 83-92. The results showed that the characteristics of girls were 12 people (40%) and boys were 18 people (60%). There were good nutritional status are 25 people (83.3%), less nutrition 2 people (6.7%), and more nutrition 3 people (10%).
