Abstract

Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure over 120 mmHg and diastolic over 80 mmHg. Increased blood pressure causes damage to organs such as the brain, cardiovascular system, eye nerves and kidneys. Hypertension can be influenced by several factors, one of which can be changed comes from food intake and nutritional status (Obesity). One of the intakes that can affect people with hypertension is fat intake, excessive fat consumption has an impact on the accumulation of blood cholesterol and blockages in blood vessels, thereby reducing the elasticity of blood vessels and increasing blood pressure. This study was conducted to determine the description of fat intake and nutritional status in patients with hypertension at the Kahuripan Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. This type of research is descriptive using accidental sampling technique. The sample in this study were 30 people with hypertension in the Kahuripan Health Center working area. Data collection was carried out by direct interviews with respondents regarding intake using the SQ-FFQ form and 24 H Recall Food form, as well as taking direct measurements using a microtoice and digital scales to determine the nutritional status of patients. The results showed that most patients with hypertension were female (97%), aged 45-54 years (36.3%), worked as housewives (86.7%), elementary school education level (50%), obese nutritional status (36.7%), and more fat intake by 43.3%. So the conclusion of his research is that increasing age and lack of physical activity and obesity / overweight nutritional status coupled with excessive fat intake can lead to hypertension.
