Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a condition characterized by the pancreas losing its ability to produce insulin or the produced insulin failing to function effectively. A random blood glucose level of <200 mg/dL is considered normal. Family nursing care is a nursing process delivered to all members of a household living under the same roof; it aims to enhance the family's ability to assist a sick family member. Objective: To determine changes in the knowledge levels and behaviors of Mr. A’s and Mrs. I’s families following education on brisk walking exercise and bay leaf decoction at the Tamansari Community Health Center (Puskesmas). Methods: A case study was conducted on two families affected by diabetes mellitus within the Tamansari Community Health Center's service area over a one-week period, involving three sessions of education on brisk walking exercise and bay leaf decoction using posters. Results: There was an improvement in the knowledge and behavior of Mr. A’s and Mrs. I’s families after receiving the educational intervention regarding brisk walking exercise and bay leaf decoction. Conclusion: Improvements in knowledge and behavior were observed in Mr. A’s and Mrs. I’s families after they received education on brisk walking exercise and bay leaf decoction.
