Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is one of the pregnancy complications that can have serious impacts on both the mother and the fetus. GDM increases the risk of preeclampsia, complicated labor, and the development of type II diabetes mellitus postpartum. Pregnant women's knowledge regarding GDM prevention is an important factor in early detection and complication control. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of GDM prevention and blood glucose levels among pregnant women in the working area of Tegalgubug Public Health Center, Cirebon Regency, in 2026. Data from 2025 showed that out of 980 pregnant women, 98 respondents experienced increased blood glucose levels. Methods: This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of all pregnant women who underwent antenatal care (ANC) examinations at Tegalgubug Public Health Center in May, totaling 51 respondents using a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire used to measure the level of knowledge regarding blood glucose examination. Results: Univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents had normal blood glucose levels, totaling 49 respondents (96.1%), and a sufficient level of knowledge in 40 respondents (74.5%). Bivariate analysis using the Mann-Whitney test indicated that there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and blood glucose levels. Conclusion: The bivariate analysis showed no significant relationship between knowledge of GDM prevention and blood glucose levels (p = 0.457). This indicates that knowledge alone is not sufficient to influence blood glucose levels, but must be accompanied by behavioral changes such as a healthy diet and physical activity. Keywords: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, prevention knowledge, blood glucose levels, pregnant women.
