Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by physical, psychological, and social changes that may increase vulnerability to mental health problems, including anxiety. Anxiety can negatively affect academic performance, social relationships, and adolescent well-being. This study aimed to determine factors associated with anxiety among adolescents at SMKN Karangjaya. This study employed a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 80 tenth-grade students selected using total sampling. Data were collected using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) questionnaire and a HEEADSSS-based psychosocial questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and Chi-Square test. The results showed that 25.0% of respondents experienced anxiety. Female adolescents had a higher prevalence of anxiety (36.6%) than males (12.8%), with a significant association (p=0.014). All HEEADSSS domains, including home, education, eating, activities, drugs, sexuality, suicide/depression, and safety, were significantly associated with anxiety (p<0.05). The safety domain showed the highest proportion of anxiety among at-risk respondents. In conclusion, anxiety remains an important mental health concern among adolescents. Gender and psychosocial factors were significantly associated with anxiety. Early detection and preventive interventions are needed to support adolescent mental health.
