Abstract
Setelah diberikan edukasi, sebagian besar responden memiliki persepsi positif mengenai kunjungan ANC (84,1%). THE EFFECT OF EDUCATION THROUGH THE MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH (MCH) HANDBOOK ON PREGNANT WOMEN'S PERCEPTIONS OF ANTENATAL CARE (ANC) VISITS AT LEGOKJAWA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, PANGANDARAN REGENCY IN 20266 Deba Juliana Tasikmalaya Ministry of Health Polytechnic Midwifery Department Applied Undergraduate Study Program Email: julianadeba1@gmail.com ABSTRACT Pregnancy requires regular monitoring through Antenatal Care (ANC) visits to ensure the health of both the mother and fetus. However, ANC coverage in Indonesia, Pangandaran Regency, and Legokjawa Public Health Center has not yet reached the established targets. One factor contributing to the low utilization of ANC services is the perception among pregnant women that routine pregnancy check-ups are unnecessary in the absence of complaints or health problems. Therefore, education through the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is needed to improve pregnant women's positive perceptions regarding the importance of standard ANC visits. This study aimed to determine the effect of education using the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook on pregnant women's perceptions of Antenatal Care (ANC) visits at Legokjawa Public Health Center, Pangandaran Regency, in 2026. This study employed a quantitative research method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, resulting in a total sample of 44 respondents. The results showed that before receiving education through the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook, most pregnant women had negative perceptions regarding ANC visits (93.2%). After the educational intervention, the majority of respondents had positive perceptions regarding ANC visits (84.1%). The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that education using the MCH Handbook had a significant effect on pregnant women's perceptions of ANC visits at Legokjawa Public Health Center, Pangandaran Regency, in 2026. Healthcare providers are expected to optimize the use of the MCH Handbook as an educational medium to improve pregnant women's positive perceptions of ANC visits.
