Abstract
Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is one of the nutritional problems that requires serious attention, especially in areas with limited access to nutrition information and education. The low level of knowledge and understanding of pregnant women regarding balanced food consumption patterns contributes to the increased risk of CED occurring. This condition shows the need for the development of educational media that is able to present information clearly, systematically, and easily understood by the target. This research aims to develop a flip-flop-based educational media regarding food consumption patterns for pregnant women at risk of in the working area of the Panumbangan Health Center. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. However, this research is limited to the Development stage. At the analysis stage, identification of target needs and mapping of problems related to nutritional information are carried out. The design stage includes the preparation of material frameworks, visual designs, and information presentation flows that are in accordance with the characteristics of the target. Furthermore, the development stage is carried out through the preparation of the initial product and a validation process by material experts, media experts, and linguists to assess the feasibility of content, language, and appearance. The results showed that the developed flipchart-based educational media obtained a validation percentage of 100% from material experts, 84% from media experts, and 100% from language experts, all categorized as valid to highly valid. In addition, the limited trial conducted on 12 pregnant women with CED obtained a feasibility percentage of 90% with a very good category. The flipchart media was considered easy to understand, attractive, practical to use, and helpful in improving pregnant women’s understanding of appropriate food consumption patterns to prevent CED in daily life. Therefore, the developed flipchart-based educational media was considered feasible to be used as a nutrition education medium for pregnant women with CED in the working area of the Panumbangan Community Health Center.
