Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder with an increasing prevalence worldwide, including in Indonesia, and requires long-term management, particularly through dietary regulation. The low level of knowledge and adherence to dietary recommendations among patients indicates the need for effective and easily understood educational media, such as booklets. This study aimed to develop a prototype of a dietary booklet for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Kawalu Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. The research used a Research and Develop (R&D) method with the Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model, which included needs analysis, content and design Develop of the booklet, validation by material, media, and language experts, and a limited trial involving 14 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that the booklet had a very high feasibility level, with validation scores of 83.33% from material experts, 88.33% from language experts, and 91.40% from media experts. The respondent trial resulted in an average score of 91.91%, categorized as very valid, indicating that the booklet is easy to understand, attractive, and applicable in daily life. In conclusion, the dietary booklet prototype is feasible to be used as an educational medium for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Diabetes, Diet, Booklet, Education, Develop
