Abstract
The nutritional status of toddlers is an important indicator in determining the quality of human resources, as toddlers are among the most vulnerable groups to nutritional deficiencies. Malnutrition conditions such as wasting, stunting, and underweight remain major global and national health challenges, including in Indonesia. Various surveys indicate that the prevalence of undernutrition remains relatively high at the national, provincial, and local levels. In Pasirbatang Village, the prevalence of undernourished toddlers reached 4.72% in 2024. The government has implemented various interventions, including the Recovery Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT-P) based on local foods, which aims to improve toddlers’ nutritional status by increasing the intake of animal-based protein. However, despite the implementation of this program, cases of undernutrition are still found, indicating the need to assess its effectiveness. This study aims to determine the effect of the Recovery Supplementary Feeding on the body weight of undernourished toddlers in Pasirbatang Village. The research employed a pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest design, involving 28 undernourished toddlers selected using purposive sampling techniques. The PMT-P intervention was provided for 28 days, with weight monitoring conducted every 7 days. Data on body weight before and after the intervention were analyzed using a paired t-test or the Wilcoxon test if the data were not normally distributed. The results of this study are expected to provide empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of PMT-P in improving the body weight of undernourished toddlers, and to serve as a basis for village authorities and health workers in strengthening nutrition improvement programs through both specific and sensitive interventions. This research is also expected to contribute to efforts in reducing cases of undernutrition and improving the nutritional status of toddlers in Pasirbatang Village.
