Abstract
Background: Oral health is an important component of overall well-being and significantly affects a person's quality of life. Lack of knowledge can cause children to ignore this problem, which in turn can lead to gingivitis. Gingivitis can be experienced by all age groups, but the prevalence of gingivitis cases is highest in adolescents, which is around 40-60%. Gingivitis disease can peak during puberty, which is commonly called puberty gingivitis. Research Objective: To determine the description of oral and dental hygiene with gingivitis in pubertal adolescents of grade 9 of Miftahul Huda Al-Husna Tasikmalaya Middle School. Method: Observational description with survey method. The measuring instrument uses a knowledge sheet of oral and dental hygiene knowledge level and a gingival index examination sheet. The sampling technique in this study used total sampling consisting of 30 grade 9 students of Miftahul Huda Al-Husna Tasikmalaya Middle School. Research Results: Knowledge of oral and dental hygiene in sufficient criteria was 12 people (40%). The results of the gingival index examination with a moderate category were 16 people (53,33). Conclusion: Most students have sufficient knowledge and gingivitis status in the moderate criteria. Keywords : Knowledge, Gingivitis, and Students Bibliography : 36 Sources (1991-2024)
