Abstract
ABSTRACT HANI KHOIRUNNISA.Description of Diet Knowledge, Glycemic Index, and Glycemic Load of Food Items in Patients with type 2 Diabetes Melitus at the Mangkubumi Health Center in Tasikmalaya City in 2025. Under Supervision of Dina Setiawati Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease that continues to increase annually, with approximately 90% of cases classified as type 2 diabetes mellitus. Knowledge about diabetes diet plays a crucial role in disease management, as dietary practices based on a good understanding are easier to implement. Selecting carbohydrate food sources with appropriate glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) values can help regulate blood glucose levels. This study aims to describe the knowledge of diet, glycemic index, and glycemic load of food ingredients among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Mangkubumi Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya City, in 2025. This research is a descriptive study. The sampling method used was non-random sampling with an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and a Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ). The results showed that most respondents had poor knowledge regarding the diabetes diet. Most of the food consumed by respondents had a moderate glycemic index, while the glycemic load was predominantly in the low category.
