Abstract
ABSTRACT DEWI NUR AZIZAH. "Description of Sodium Intake and Nutritional Status in Hypertension Patients in the Working Area of the Sambongpari Health Center UPTD Tasikmalaya City" Under supervision of MARIANAWATI SARAGIH Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that is an important health problem worldwide due to its high prevalence. Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than or equal to (≥) 140 mmHg and/or diastolic of more than or equal to (≥) 90 mmHg. Hypertension is a degenerative disease that can be caused by multiple factors. Factors that cannot be changed and can be changed, factors that can be changed are not smoking and consuming alcohol, doing physical activity, preventing excess weight (obesity), reducing foods that contain high sodium and consuming fiber such as vegetables and fruits. While factors that cannot be changed are genetics, age, and gender. This study was conducted to determine the description of sodium intake and nutritional status in hypertension patients at the Sambongpari Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. This type of research is descriptive using a purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were 91 hypertension patients in the Sambongpari Health Center work area. This data collection was conducted by direct interviews with respondents regarding intake using the SQ-FFQ form, as well as conducting direct measurements using a stadiometer and digital foot scales to determine the nutritional status of patients. The results showed that most hypertension sufferers were female (93%), aged 18-40 (65%), high school education level (67%), not working only as housewives (85%), obesity nutritional status (45%), high sodium intake (87%) with the 24 H Food Recall method, and high sodium intake based on the SQ-FFQ (81%). So the conclusion of this study is that high sodium intake can affect blood pressure and obesity nutritional status can cause hypertension. Keywords : Hypertension, Sodium, Nutritional Status
