Abstract

Obesity is a condition characterized by excessive accumulation of body fat, caused by an imbalance between energy intake and energy output. The most important behavior affecting nutritional status is diet. The quality and quantity of food and drink consumed have a direct impact on the health of individuals and society as a whole. Based on data in Indonesia, there are 13.6% of adolescents aged 16-18 years who are obese, with a prevalence of 5.46% in West Java and 7.84% in Tasikmalaya City. This study aims to determine the description of students' knowledge about obesity and balanced nutrition and eating habits in adolescents at SMAN 1 Tasikmalaya. This type of research is descriptive research that aims to describe knowledge about obesity, balanced nutrition, and eating habits in adolescents. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling, with a total sample of 30 students from a population of 81 students. The results showed that adolescents at SMAN 1 Tasikmalaya had a good level of knowledge about obesity as many as 16 people (54%), sufficient 12 people (40%), and lacking 2 people (6.6%). For good balanced nutrition knowledge, there were 16 people (54%), sufficient 9 people (30%), and lacking 5 people (16.6%). Respondents' eating habits also showed that 20 people (66.6%) were categorized as not good, while 10 people (33.3%) were categorized as good. For the results of the study of respondents' eating habits based on the type of food, there were 10 people (33.3%) who had good eating habits and 20 people (66.6%) who had bad eating habits. For the results of the study of eating habits based on eating frequency, the food eaten by respondents was quite diverse.
