Abstract
Background: Anemia is a body condition characterized by lower than normal hemoglobin (Hb) levels in the blood, which can be caused by a low red blood cell count or a sufficient number of red blood cells but low Hb content in red blood cells. The prevalence of anemia among pregnant women in Indonesia is reported to be 27.7%. The prevalence of anemia in pregnancy in West Java itself in 2020 has decreased, based on existing data, there is a significant decrease in the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women, from 85.82% in 2019 to 53.24% in 2020. Many non-pharmacological alternatives can increase hemoglobin levels by increasing consumption of foods high in animal protein such as chicken liver. Chicken liver contains quite high iron, namely 8.99 mg/100 grams. In addition, minerals derived from chicken liver are more easily absorbed because they contain fewer mineral binding agents. Objective: To be able to provide midwifery care for Mrs. S, 26 years old G1P0A0 with mild anemia through empowerment of women and families in the form of utilization of processed chicken liver. Method: The LTA design used is qualitative through a case study approach with 1 subject pregnant woman with mild anemia. Results: Increased knowledge about anemia in pregnancy, increased Hb levels in pregnant women and increased skills of mothers and families in processing chicken liver. Conclusion: Implementation of chicken liver processing for 14 days with a frequency of giving 100 grams of chicken liver a day was able to show an increase in Hb levels of pregnant women with mild anemia. Suggestion: Empowerment of pregnant women and families about anemia with processed chicken liver can be used to increase Hemoglobin in pregnant women with mild anemia.
