Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the metabolic diseases that is common in the world and the development of the disease is caused by a combination of two main factors, namely impaired insulin secretion from pancreatic β cells and the inability of insulin-sensitive tissue to respond to the presence of insulin. The aim of this research is to determine the description of the glycemic index (IG) and glycemic load (BG) in type 2 DM sufferers at the Tamansari Community Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. This type of research refers to analytical descriptive research with the variables studied being the glycemic index (IG) and glycemic load (BG) in type 2 DM sufferers at the Tamansari Community Health Center, Tasikmalaya City in 2024. Sampling used a non-random sampling method with the sampling technique being consecutive sampling. . Eighty people met the inclusion and exclusion criteria (16 men and 64 women). All sufferers were interviewed using the food recall and SQ-FFQ methods. The results of this study can be seen that the majority of the glycemic index is in the medium category, 80 sufferers (100%) and the glycemic load is in the low category, 38 sufferers (47.5%). Conclusion: Glycemic Index is in the medium category and Glycemic Load is in the low category.
