Abstract
Diarrhea is a common health problem that is often found. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that in Indonesia the pain rate caused by diarrhea is still high. So that until now it still causes Extraordinary Events Improper food selection in dietary arrangements made by students triggers adverse effects on health problems, for example such as experiencing diarrhea. Almost most people, including students, have experienced diarrhea. One of the efforts to treat diarrhea is to do self-medication. Self-medication is the act of using and selecting drugs independently carried out by individuals to overcome disorders or symptoms of the disease experienced. This study aims to determine the picture of student knowledge and behavior about antidiarrheal self-medication at Health Polytechnic of Health Ministry Tasikmalaya. The method in this study is quantitative descriptive with data collection techniques using quota sampling and purposive sampling. The number of research samples was 96 respondents from various majors at the Health Polytechnic of Health Ministry Tasikmalaya. Based on the results of the study, there were two majors where all respondents had good category knowledge, namely pharmacy and midwifery majors. Meanwhile, based on gender, the majority of respondents who have good category knowledge are women (89%). Generally, respondents use standardized types of herbal medicines (47.9%), solid drug forms (99%), know the rules of use (63.5%) and drug doses for the use of diarrhea self-medication (74%). As well as respondents who did not know about the side effects of using antidiarrheal drugs (51%). The overall results of the study the majority of respondents have a good level of knowledge category (92%).
