Abstract
A Transdermal patch is a dosage form made of polymer with an adhesive useful for delivering a number of drug doses across the surface of the skin and tissues which are then delivered to the blood. Patah tulang is known to contain secondary metabolites that have anti-inflammatory activity such as alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, tannins, steroids and saponins. This study aims to determine the formula and good characteristics of the transdermal anti-inflammatory patch preparation of stem and branch patah tulang ethanol extract (Euphorbia tirucalli). The method of this research is experimental by making preparation of the patch was divided into 3 formulations with a comparison of the concentrations of stem and branch patah tulang ethanol extracts, F1 (5%), F2 (10%), and F3 (15%). The patch will be tested for its physical characteristics including organoleptic test, weight uniformity test, thickness test, folding resistance test, pH test and humidity test. The results showed that stem and branch patah tulang ethanol extracts (Euphorbia tirucalli) with extract concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% could be formulated into anti-inflammatory transdermal patch preparations. The characteristics of the best patch preparation were F2 with an extract concentration of 10% had the best characteristics, smooth texture, flexibility, folding resistance > 300 folds, a pH of 4,5 and a moisture content of 7,30%.
