Abstract
Burns often occur at home and the most commonly found are 1st and 2nd degree burns. As a curative step, the community generally performs first aid efforts. Knowledge of correct first aid is needed so that burns can be cured without any other adverse effects on the patient, such as infection, shock and electrolyte imbalance. The purpose of this study was to describe the community’s knowledge about first aid for burns independently in Sindang Village, Cikijing District, Majalengka Regency. This research is a quantitative and qualitative descriptive study by filling out a questionnaire. The population in this study were all people in Sindang Village, Cikijing District, Majalengka Regency. The sampling technique used was double sampling, namely quota sampling and purposive sampling. Samples were taken as many as 68 respondents. The research results show that the description of the level of public knowledge regarding first aid for burns independently was as many as 38 people (55.9%) in the good category, 23 people (33.9%) had a sufficient level of knowledge and 7 people (10.2%) had a moderate level of knowledge less knowledge. Sindang village community must be given education about first aid for burns and how to handle them so they don't have an impact that will harm the sufferer.
