Abstract
Common Cold is a mild upper respiratory tract infection, caused by a virus that occurs a lot in society. The symptoms experienced will vary depending on the body's response and resistance. Treatment of the common cold can be done with self-medication, but proper self-medication in drug use requires the public to have clear and reliable information about the drugs used, because inappropriate self-medication can threaten further complaints. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public knowledge and attitudes about self-medication for the common cold in Sirnasari Village, Sariwangi District, Tasikmalaya Regency. This research is a quantitative descriptive research, the sampling technique in this study was carried out by quota sampling and purposive sampling. In this study, samples were taken based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, the results of calculating quota sampling using the lameshow formula obtained as many as 100 respondents. Data collection was carried out using primary data obtained by gathering people who had stated their availability as respondents, then distributing questionnaires as a data collection instrument. The results obtained from this study are that the people of Sirnasari village, Sariwangi sub-district, Tasikmalaya district are in the good category, both in terms of knowledge and attitudes towards self-medication of the common cold. Indicators of knowledge about self-medication for the common cold 71% of respondents were in the good category, and 83% of respondents were in the good category with a good attitude towards self-medication for the common cold.
