Abstract

Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic that has a β-lactam ring. Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and has high oral bioavailability, with peak plasma concentrations within 1-2 hours. Amoxicillin can also be applied in the treatment of pneumonia, bacterial infections of the ear, throat, sinuses, skin, urinary tract, abdomen, and blood. Amoxicillin works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptides. The prevalence of antibiotic resistance cases continues to increase. In August 2022, it increased by 1.27 million people with antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. Data on the use of antibiotics in 2022 at the Cibeureum Health Center that the highest use of antibiotics is amoxicillin as much as 23,497 / year. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of patient knowledge about amoxicillin antibiotics at the Cibeureum Health Center. The research design used was descriptive quantitative using a questionnaire. The population in this study were patients who sought treatment at the Cibeureum Health Center with a sample of patients who had used amoxicillin antibiotics for treatment with a total of 100 respondents. The sampling method is accidental sampling. Data analysis that will be tested is univariate variables. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it is found that the majority of respondents based on gender are female (72%), based on the age of the majority of respondents in early adulthood, namely 26-35 years old (28%), based on education the majority of respondents have a high school education (46%), based on employment the majority of respondents have a job as a housewife (54%), based on the address of the majority of respondents visiting the Cibeureum Health Center, namely domiciled in the Cibeureum Health Center working area, and based on the dosage form the majority of respondents choose tablet preparations (97%). The level of patient knowledge of the use of amoxicillin antibiotics at the Cibeureum Health Center is included in the sufficient category (70.5%).
