Abstract
ABSTRACT Application of Siam Pumpkin Compress Therapy to Lower Body Temperature With Typhoid Fever Patients in School Age Children (6-12 Years) In Melati Room 5 dr Soekardjo Hospital, Tasikmalaya City Dede Nurhayati1 Novi Enis Rosuliana, M.Kep., Ns., Sp.Kep.An2 Lia Herliana, S.Kp, Ners, M.Kep3 Typhoid fever is a systemic infection caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria which attacks the digestive system, especially the small intestine, liver, spleen, lymph glands with typical symptoms, namely fever that fluctuates for more than one week. The main nursing problem that arises is hyperthermia. One of the nursing interventions that can be given is the application of Siem Pumpkin compress therapy. Siem pumpkin has an antipyretic effect. The aim of this research is to obtain an overview of the application of Siem Pumpkin compress therapy to reduce body temperature in Typoid Fever patients in school age children (6-12 years). The design of the nurse's final scientific work is qualitative with a case study approach which uses data collection by means of interviews, observations and documentation studies using data collection instruments, assessment sheets, observation sheets, SOP, tools and materials used, 300 gram Siem Pumpkin juice, compressed cloth. and a digital thermometer, then compared the data of two patients, after being given Pumpkin Siem compress therapy for 3 days. The results showed that there was a change in body temperature after applying the Chayote compress therapy for 10 minutes over a period of 3 days, patient 1's initial body temperature was 39.0⁰C to 36.5°C, while in patient 2 the initial body temperature was 40.4⁰C to 36. 7⁰C. Conclusion: The application of Siem Pumpkin compress therapy is useful for lowering body temperature in Typoid Fever patients in children. Suggestions for future researchers could be to develop the effectiveness of applying Siem Pumpkin compress therapy to reduce body temperature in Typoid Fever patients in children.
