Abstract

Nursing Care for Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Undertake Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise in The Kemuning Room of Banjar City Hospital Raida1 Yudi Triguna, S.Kep., Ners, M.Kep.2 Syaukia Adini, M.Tr.Kep.3 Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a combination of diseases with two lung disease disorders, namely chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Chronic asthma followed by emphysema or bronchitis can also cause COPD. One of the management that can be done by people with COPD is Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise. The design of this scientific paper uses a case study with a qualitative approach that is presented narratively with the aim of describing the response and changes in breath frequency, additional breathing sounds and oxygen saturation before and after Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise in COPD patients. The subjects used were 2 people with the same case, namely COPD. The case study was conducted in the Muning Room of Banjar City Hospital for 5 days of treatment. The data obtained in this case study are based on the results of interviews, observations, measurements and documentation studies. Results from case studies show breathing frequency improves, additional breathing sounds can be lowered and oxygen saturation improves. Where the first patient obtained the frequency of breathing improved from 30x / minute to 20x / minute, the sound of wheezing and ronchi breathing was faintly heard, and oxygen saturation from 95% to 98%. While in the second patient obtained respiratory frequency improved from 26x / minute to 19x / minute, wheezing and ronchi breathing sounds faintly heard, and oxygen saturation from 95% to 98%. In conclusion, Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise can improve breathing frequency, additional breathing sounds can be lowered and improve oxygen saturation in COPD patients. The author recommends for further research to pay attention to the involvement of patients, families and other health teams so that the implementation of nursing actions can run optimally.
