Abstract
The content of synthetic dyes in cosmetic products is known to be very harmful to skin health. One of the synthetic dyes that are prohibited from being used as an additive is Rhodamine B. Therefore, as a substitute for synthetic dyes, red dragon fruit contains the natural pigment betacyanin so that it has the potential as a natural dye. This study aims to determine the optimum concentration of red dragon fruit extract as a natural dye in the formulation of blush cream. In this study, the viscous extract was obtained through the maceration extraction process with concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%. The extraction method is carried out by simplicia extraction by immersing in a solvent at room temperature so that the damage or degradation of metabolites can be minimized. The results showed that the extract concentration of 10% gave the most preferred color appearance by the respondents with a percentage of 70%, for the respondent's preferred aroma in the formula with an extract concentration of 30% with a percentage of 10%, then the texture of the blush cream was preferred for the three formulas by the respondents. with a percentage of 30% and the dosage form of blush, the cream is preferred by respondents with a percentage of 80%. This blush cream also fulfills the organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, polish test, and preference test for the color and dosage form of the blush cream.
