Abstract
Solid whitening bath soap is a skin treatment that contains certain ingredients to clean hands, face, and body and brighten the skin. Some solid bath soaps circulating in Indonesia are suspected to contain mercury. This is because the soap provides instant results for its users. The purpose of this study was to identify the mercury content in solid whitening soap circulating in the Cikijing Market, Majalengka Regency. This study uses a qualitative analysis of mercury with potassium iodide, sodium hydroxide, and Mercury Test Kit reagents. sampling technique with accidental sampling. The analysis of the research data used is descriptive analysis, which is one method of data analysis by describing the data that has been obtained. The results of the identification of mercury content in solid whitening bath soap showed that there were 3 (three) positive samples containing mercury, namely samples number 1, 4, and 5, which were the results of tests using the Labtest® brand mercury test kit reagent and 5 out of 5 samples were positive for mercury. On testing with Potassium Iodide solution.
