Abstract

Breakfast is a supply of energy for the brain to concentrate at school. A healthy breakfast energy-fulfilled amount of 15–30% nutrition in a day. The habit of passing a breakfast risked becoming overweight or obese. Based on preliminary studies at SMP Negeri 17 Tasikmalaya, it has been seen that the nutritional status of students is based on their body mass index (BMI/A), especially in class 7, which had 1.4% malnutrition, 6.2% overweight, and 0.5% obesity. This research aims to describe the breakfast habits, energy intake, and nutritional status of the students at SMP Negeri 17 Tasikmalaya. This research method was descriptive research. This research was done in April 2024. The research method applied was quota sampling. The applied sample in this research was 32 students. Accumulation data has been collected by filling out questionnaires, non-consecutive 2x24-hours food recall interviews, and anthropometric measurements (body weight and height). The results of research on breakfast habits showed that the frequency of 38% was sometimes (4-6/week), and the breakfast food pattern consists of carbohydrates, protein, and drinking water (40%). Energy intake was 76% of daily energy needs and was included in the insufficient category (53%). The results of anthropometric measurements showed that the students' nutritional status was 13% less nutrition, 65% good nutrition, 19% more nutrition, and 3% obesity. There were still many students who had not eaten breakfast, and the kinds of food they chose were not varied enough, so they were not in accordance with the concept of balanced nutrition.
