Lifestyle changes, especially in big cities, have caused an increase in the prevalence of degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Epidemiologic DM is often undetected so that morbidity and mortality are high in these undetected cases. Results from Riskesdas (2018), the prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in the population aged 15 years in Indonesia from 2013 to 2018 has increased quite significantly, namely from 1.5% to 2.0%. Based on data from the West Java Provincial Health Service (2022), the number of people suffering from diabetes mellitus in West Java has reached 644,704 cases. Hyperglycemia can affect small blood vessels, small arteries so that the supply of food and oxygen to the periphery is reduced as a result affecting the peripheral nerves, autonomic nervous system and central nervous system, resulting in nerve disorders. Diabetic neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that can occur in someone who has diabetes. Management of DM can be done with good management. Management is known as four pillars of diabetes mellitus intervention, which include: good nutrition and physical exercise, education, medical nutritional therapy and pharmacological therapy. Pharmacological management with Oral Hypoglycemic drugs (OHO) and/or insulin injections. Physical activity is recommended regularly (3-4 times a week) for approximately 30 minutes, which is in accordance with CRIPE (Continuous, Rhythmical, Interval, Progressive, Endurance training). Adapted to abilities and comorbidities. Physical activity can directly improve physiological function by reducing blood glucose levels, increasing stamina and emotional well-being and improving circulation. Foot exercises are an exercise or physical activity carried out by diabetes mellitus patients to prevent injuries and help improve blood circulation in the feet. Foot exercises can also help correct foot deformities. Apart from that, it can also increase muscle strength, calves, thigh muscles, and also overcome limitations in joint movement.
