Abstract

Gastritis is one of the most common gastrointestinal diseases encountered in primary healthcare facilities. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Tasikmalaya City in 2024, gastritis was among the ten most prevalent diseases, with 8,735 reported cases. Appropriate medication prescription plays an important role in the management of gastritis by helping to relieve patients' symptoms. However, information regarding prescription patterns for gastritis treatment at the primary healthcare level remains limited. This study aimed to describe the prescription patterns for gastritis patients at Mangkubumi Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya City, in 2025. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method with a retrospective approach using secondary data obtained from medical records. A total of 359 medical records were selected using purposive sampling. The variables observed included patient characteristics and prescription patterns based on drug class, drug name, dosage form, drug strength, and dosing frequency. The results showed that the majority of the samples were female, comprising 256 samples (71.31%), while the largest age group was 20–59 years, comprising 262 samples (72.98%). The most frequently prescribed drug class was antacids, accounting for 127 samples (35.38%). The most frequently prescribed drug was an antacid with a strength of 200 mg aluminum hydroxide and 200 mg magnesium hydroxide, accounting for 127 samples (35.38%). Tablets were the most commonly prescribed dosage form, accounting for 156 samples (43.45%), while the most common dosing frequency was omeprazole administered twice daily (2×1), accounting for 112 samples (31.20%). Overall, the prescription patterns for gastritis patients at Mangkubumi Public Health Center, Tasikmalaya City, in 2025 were dominated by antacids and omeprazole.
