Abstract

Caesarean section (CS) is a surgical procedure performed to deliver a fetus through an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. One of the postoperative complications that may occur is delayed wound healing and surgical site infection. Early mobilization education is one of the interventions that can accelerate the wound healing process and reduce the risk of infection in post-caesarean section patients. This study aimed to determine the effect of early mobilization education on the wound healing process and the incidence of wound infection among post-caesarean section patients at RSU Taman Harapan Baru Bekasi. This study employed a quantitative research design using a quasi-experimental approach with a post-test only control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving a total of 60 respondents, consisting of 30 respondents in the intervention group and 30 respondents in the control group. The intervention group received early mobilization education through leaflets and educational videos, while the control group received standard hospital care. Data were collected using the REEDA scale observation sheet to assess wound healing and an observation sheet to identify wound infection on postoperative days 1, 3, and 7. Data were analyzed using Fisher-Freeman-Halton Exact Test to evaluate wound healing outcomes and the Chi-Square test to assess the incidence of wound infection, with a significance level of α = 0.05. The statistical analysis showed a p-value of <0,001 for the wound healing process and 0.006 for the incidence of wound infection, both of which were lower than α = 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that early mobilization education has a significant effect on improving the wound healing process and reducing the incidence of wound infection in post-caesarean section patients. Early mobilization education can be considered an effective nursing and midwifery intervention to improve the quality of postoperative care for caesarean section patients.
