Abstract

ABSTRACT Syakira Salsabila. Overview of Vitamin C and Vitamin D Intake in Hypertensive Patients at Kahuripan Community Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. Under supervision of MARIANAWATI SARAGIH Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with an increasing prevalence and is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Dietary patterns, including adequate intake of vitamin C and vitamin D, play an important role in blood pressure regulation through antioxidant mechanisms, endothelial function, and regulation of the renin–angiotensin system. This study aimed to describe vitamin C and vitamin D intake among hypertensive patients at Kahuripan Community Health Center, Tasikmalaya City. This study used a descriptive design with interview methods using the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) and 2x24-hour food recall. The sample consisted of 30 respondents selected using accidental sampling technique. Data were analyzed univariately to describe respondent characteristics and adequacy levels of vitamin C and vitamin D intake. The results showed that most respondents were female (87%), aged 41–64 years (83%), had elementary school education or equivalent (63%), and were housewives (70%). Based on the 2x24-hour food recall, most respondents had inadequate vitamin C intake (<80% RDA), totaling 28 respondents (94%), and inadequate vitamin D intake in 29 respondents (96%). Based on the SQ-FFQ results, most respondents had severe deficit vitamin C intake in 15 respondents (50%) and severe deficit vitamin D intake in 29 respondents (96%). It can be concluded that most hypertensive patients at Kahuripan Community Health Center, Tasikmalaya City, had vitamin C and vitamin D intake below the recommended dietary allowance.
