Abstract

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia issued a Circular on the Advanced Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination (Booster) to increase the immunity of each individual, especially in the elderly and immunocompromised patients. However, the booster vaccination rate in the elderly group is still very far from the target. The achievement of advanced dose (booster) COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia for the elderly only reached 12.8% while the achievement of booster dose vaccination in all groups in Tasikmalaya City was only 8.3% with the highest number of positive COVID-19 cases in the work area. The Kahuripan Health Center, Tawang District, Tasikmalaya City, namely four active COVID-19 cases. This research was conducted in May 2022 in Tawang District, Tasikmalaya City. The method used is qualitative phenomenology with purposive sampling informant selection technique. The data were collected by the researcher as a key instrument by using assistive instruments in the form of interview guides and recording tools. Data analysis in this study used the transcription method according to J.W. Cresswell. This study involved seven elderly as informants. The results of this study describe three themes of perception and two themes of Readiness. The three themes of this perception are that vaccines protect against COVID-19, lack of knowledge, and vaccines are not important. The two preparedness themes that resulted were ready and not ready.
