Abstract
ABSTRACT ADE IRMA IRANSYAH. DESCRIPTION OF SNACK CONSUMPTION HABITS AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF STUDENTS AT THE TASIKMALAYA MINISTRY OF HEALTH POLYTECHNIC . Under supervision of MARIANAWATI SARAGIH Snacks are foods that are easily found around campus, both inside and outside the academic environment, and are available from various sources such as canteens, shops, street vendors, and vending machines. Consuming healthy snacks can help meet energy and nutritional needs, but unhealthy snacks may lead to health problems such as obesity and metabolic disorders. This study aims to describe the snacking habits and nutritional status of students at the Tasikmalaya Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health. This research is a descriptive study involving 95 students from the Cilolohan campus area, selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through interviews using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to assess snacking habits and through anthropometric measurements of body weight and height to determine nutritional status based on Body Mass Index for Age (BMI/A). The results showed that most respondents were female students aged 18–22 years, with the majority receiving a monthly allowance of IDR 500,000–1,000,000. The most frequently consumed foods included instant noodles, spicy fried chicken (ayam geprek), and fried snacks, while fruit consumption remained low. Nutritional assessments showed that 53.68% of students had normal nutritional status, 32.63% were overweight or obese, and 13.68% were undernourished. These findings highlight the need for ongoing nutrition education and campus policies that promote healthy food choices to prevent imbalanced nutritional status among students. Keywords: Students, Snack Consumption Habits, Nutritional Status.
