Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a viral infection transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito to humans. The severity of DHF can cause serious bleeding, blood clotting disorders, and the potential for life-threatening complications. Providing optimal care can reduce the number of cases and mortality rates caused by DHF. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of drug use in pediatric DHF patients in the inpatient installation of Jasa Kartini Hospital, Tasikmalaya City in 2024. The study used a descriptive quantitative research design with retrospective data collection. Inpatients with DHF at Jasa Kartini Hospital in Tasikmalaya City were 805 people, from the total population 89 samples were obtained using the Slovin formula. The collection used a purposive sampling technique, and the data was analyzed starting from data collection, data editing, data coding and data entry, then presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. Based on research at the Jasa Kartini Hospital in Tasikmalaya City in 2024, it was shown that pediatric DHF patients were dominated by males (70%) and aged 0–5 years (33.8%), with the longest hospitalization period being 4 days. The main therapy given was Ringer Lactate infusion fluid (90%) and cefotaxime antibiotics for secondary infections (70%). The most common treatment for fever was paracetamol (97%), especially in the form of infusion. The route of drug administration was predominantly intravenous (84%), with the most frequently used dosage form being infusion fluid (43.8%). The conclusion of this study was that all pediatric patients received therapy in accordance with the guidelines for DHF management, both those who were not infected with secondary infections and those who were infected with secondary infections.
