Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires long-term and complex treatment where one of the determinants of the success of therapy depends on compliance with medication use. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, the number of diabetes mellitus sufferers in Indonesia is ranked fourth in the world. WHO predicts an increase in the number of diabetes mellitus sufferers in Indonesia from 8.4 million in 2000 to around 21.3 million in 2030. The aim of this research is to determine the level of patient compliance in taking Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus medication in the Outpatient Installation of Dr. Soekardjo, Tasikmalaya City. The sampling method uses purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were data collection sheets and the MMAS-8 (Morisky Medication Adherence) questionnaire. The data analysis used includes editing, coding, sorting, entry and cleaning stages. The results of research on the level of compliance with taking medication in 92 patients showed a high level of compliance, namely 32 people (34.78%), a moderate level of compliance, namely 40 people (43.48%), a low level of compliance, namely 20 people (21.74%). ). The results of research based on age show that the highest prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus occurs in the 51-74 year old category, totaling 48 people with a percentage of 52.17% and the lowest number occurs in the 14-20 year old category, totaling 1 person with a percentage of 1.09%. . The results of the research based on education level showed that the characteristics of respondents with type 2 diabetes mellitus were that the majority had elementary school education, namely 45 people with a percentage of 48.91%. Meanwhile, the lowest were respondents with a history of high school education, namely 9 respondents with a percentage of 9.78%. The results of research based on severity level show that the characteristics of the respondents whose severity level was not serious were 61 people with a percentage of 66.30%. Meanwhile, the fewest respondents whose severity level was serious illness were 31 respondents with a percentage of 33.70%. It can be concluded that type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in the outpatient installation of RSUD dr. Most of Soekardjo was at a moderate level of medication adherence, the most common age category was elderly, the highest level of education was elementary school, and the highest level of severity was not severe.
