Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HIV/AIDS PATIENTS BASED ON DATA IN THE CITY OF TASIKMALAYA 2023 47 Pages, 5 Chapters, 13 Tables, 3 Figures, 14 Appendices ABSTRACT Background: Cases of HIV/AIDS often experience an annual increase, where key populations in the spread of HIV/AIDS are still concentrated among men who have sex with men (MSM); transgender individuals; female sex workers (FSW); and injectable drug users (IDUs). The role of patient characteristic data is crucial in efforts to prevent and control the disease. The aim of this research is to describe the characteristics of HIV/AIDS patients in the city of Tasikmalaya in 2023. Methods: Descriptive quantitative with the population being all data of HIV/AIDS sufferers in Tasikmalaya City in 2023, using total sampling as the sampling technique, amounting to 145 cases. The analysis used is univariate analysis. Data collection is carried out through documentation and interviews. Result: HIV/AIDS patients in Tasikmalaya City in 2023 are mostly male, aged 26-35 years old, with a highest education level of high school (SMA), working as laborers, unmarried, with the most common risk factor being Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), and residing in Tasikmalaya City. Conclusion: Men are considered to have high mobility in performing work, which provides economic stability and thus enables them to purchase sexual services. Most of this behavior is carried out by those who are unmarried. Information obtained from the environment or media often provides negative information. Social media plays a significant role in spreading deviant behavior and facilitating access to prostitution, leading to new trends, one of which is male-to-male sexual relationships (MSM) as the highest risk factor.
