Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the main causes of morbidity and death due to infectious diseases throughout the world. The death rate for ARI reaches 4.25 million people per year worldwide. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in developing countries, where the under-five mortality rate is higher than 40 per 1,000 live births, is 15 to 20% per year in children under 5 years. In Indonesia, acute respiratory infections (ARI) are still the main cause of death in infants and young children. The aim of the research was to determine the description of drug prescribing in patients with acute respiratory infections in the outpatient care of the Jasa Kartini Hospital, Tasikmalaya City.This research uses a descriptive quantitative research design with retrospective data collection. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling technique. Samples were calculated manually using the Slovin formula, namely with a result of 100 samples. This research analyzed includes the percentage percentage for data distribution and medical record data processing stages in the form of data withdrawal, editing, data coding and data entry. The results of the research based on gender characteristics were more suffered by women as many as 57 people (57%). The research results based on age characteristics were more common in children aged 6-11 years as many as 48 people (48%). Prescriptions based on the name of the most widely used drug, namely paracetamol, were 89 people (28.4%), prescriptions were based on the most widely used drug class, namely the antibiotic group, as many as 99 people (36.1%).
